Spring/Summer 2016

Here’s the final tally for preserving the harvest of summer 2016:  4 pints Basil Pasta Sauce, 4 pints Blueberry Jam, 3.5 pints Fig Chutney, 4 pints Fig Jam, 18 pints Peach Jam, 4 pints Pickled Peppers, 29 pints Bread-n-Butter Pickles, 31 pints of Dill Pickle Spears, and 5 quarts of fermented Sour Dill Pickles.  The tomatoes didn’t produce enough quantity at one time to do much canning, and we took a couple of trips right when they were ready to harvest, so I ended up giving a lot of them away.  All of the produce preserved here was from the garden except the peaches that came from Vogel Orchard in Fredericksburg, Texas and the figs that came from my grandparent’s tree.
